The number of volunteers from a.s.r. that committed itself in 2019 has risen considerably again compared to the previous years. For example, the total time invested by employees so far has been 10,952 hours, compared to 8,733 hours in the whole of 2018. CEO Jos Baeten and CFO Chris Figee delivered a special video message to all volunteers on the 'Volunteer Day' that was hosted by a.s.r.
On the 'National Volunteer Day', which takes place annually on December 7, volunteers are thanked and acknowledged for their work. Also regionally volunteers are thanked for their efforts. At a.s.r. special attention was paid to all employees who volunteered in 2019.
On Tuesday December 10, over 100 volunteers from a.s.r. came together to celebrate the day of the volunteer. A substantive program was organized for them, followed by a dinner. Employees were able to participate in the Nibud workshop "Poor for a day" that ties in with a.s.r.'s projects. for financial reason. There was also a nice thank you gift for all volunteers, a cookbook with affordable recipies.
In the 10,952 hours, employees have committed themselves 1571 times. In 2019, measured until 31 October, 7,406 children were reached in 322 classes. 124 households made use of the financial knowledge of employees and a total of 56 civil society organizations benefited from the efforts of a.s.r. These figures already far exceed those of 2018. And that while November and December have not even been added yet. Also, the non-financial goal to commit an extra 5 percent in volunteering work over 2019 via a.s.r. foundation is more than achieved.
Jos Baeten and Chris Figee expressed their thanks in a video message (in Dutch only), which was shared with all volunteers who could not be present on this day. This includes employees who have committed themselves to social team outings, employees who have received an incentive and employees who have committed themselves to one of the financial self-reliance projects.
