Acknowledgement for gender equality at a.s.r.

a.s.r. has been included in the global Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index and ranks as 3rd Dutch company in the European Women on Boards Gender Diversity Index Report 2021, thus recognising a.s.r.’s policy in the field of gender equality in various rankings.

Through the Gender-Equality Index, Bloomberg provides insight into the achievements of companies committed to transparency in the reporting of gender data. This index also shows how well companies score on, for instance, female leadership, the growth of female management talent, equal pay for women and men and inclusive culture. a.s.r. scored best on the elements 'Inclusive culture' (83%) and 'Equal pay for men and women' (76%). There is still room for improvement, amongst other things, on 'Female leadership & Talent Pipeline' (34%), which is defined by Bloomberg as the commitment to attract, retain and develop women into senior management positions.

Best Practice Leader

Furthermore a.s.r. has been named Best Practice Leader in the European Women on Boards (EWOB) Gender Diversity Index Report 2021. As one of the 668 largest European companies, a.s.r. has achieved gender equality at the highest decision-making level, namely the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board. At a.s.r. one thirds of the Executive Board and two fifths of the Supervisory Board are women.
EWOB is a network of European women and a key advisor to the European Commission in the implementation of the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025.

Jolanda Sappelli, HR director: “I am very pleased with this recognition. At a.s.r. we are not only striving for equality between men and women, but we believe it just as important all employees experience equal opportunities and equal treatment. That is what we stand for. The 'Talent Pipeline' Bloomberg mentions has got our attention. We are working on a balanced distribution of management positions by means of our annual employee review, succession planning, development possibilities and leadership programme.'
