Culture

At a.s.r., an open and inclusive culture is central to how the organisation operates, with collaboration, respect and integrity serving as guiding principles. We encourage personal development and sustainable employability, enabling employees to grow and contribute to shared objectives. The core values – being helpful, thinking ahead and achieving results – form the foundation of how we work. This means addressing dilemmas openly, embracing diversity and equality, creating space for dialogue and reflection, applying clear frameworks and placing responsibility as low down in the organisation as possible. We say what we do and we do what we say.
Business ethics at a.s.r.
Integrity and ethical conduct are essential conditions for being a reliable insurer and for serving the interests of customers, employees, shareholders and society. A controlled and ethical business operation goes beyond compliance with laws and regulations, sector codes and other frameworks. It requires every employee to maintain ethical awareness of the moral interests at stake in daily decision‑making and business operations, and to actively avoid actual or perceived conflicts of interest. a.s.r. therefore continuously stimulates awareness of its Code of Conduct and the importance of acting in line with its core values and leadership themes from the story of a.s.r.
Ethical and integrity considerations are supported through a range of activities, including ethics and integrity training sessions, presentations, dialogue sessions and the development of ethical policies and practical guidance. More complex, real world dilemmas are submitted to the Sustainability Committee — a body comprising an ethicist as well as representatives from Sustainability, Compliance, Legal Affairs, Group Risk Management, Corporate Communication and various business units.  Maintaining an ongoing dialogue on ethical dilemmas across all levels of the organisation, and fostering ethical awareness, helps encourage ethically self aware and principled behaviour within a.s.r.
Code of conduct
The a.s.r. Code of Conduct provides guidance for conduct and decision‑making. It helps the organisation perform its duties with care, integrity and professionalism. The code also sets clear expectations for how employees interact with one another, how a.s.r. serves its customers and how it fulfils its  responsibilities towards the environment in which it operates. The Code of Conduct applies to everyone working for a.s.r., whether permanent or temporary. a.s.r. expects all individuals to adhere to the code and to hold one another accountable for upholding its principles.
Upon joining a.s.r., all employees – including temporary and external staff – take an oath or make a solemn affirmation, indicating their commitment to comply with the behavioural rules and to act in accordance with ethical principles in their daily work.
Diversity, equity and inclusion
a.s.r. is convinced that diversity strengthens the organisation and contributes to long‑term resilience. a.s.r. provides equal opportunities for all and actively works towards an inclusive culture in which employees feel welcome and can be themselves. Diversity – both visible, such as gender, age, origin and physical ability, and less visible, such as working styles, beliefs and perspectives – is recognised, valued and used as a driver for innovation and sustainable solutions. By consciously embracing these differences and embedding inclusion into policies and practices, a.s.r. enables a wide range of perspectives and contributes to achieving its strategic objectives.
