The Fair Insurance Guide (EV) report of November 2024 evaluates the sustainability policies of sixteen insurers in the Netherlands on ten social themes. The biennial policy update of the EV has been further refined; the number of themes, sectors, and aspects of business operations being assessed has been reduced from 14 to 10.
a.s.r. scores in this publication as follows: 1 six (Animal Welfare), 2 sevens (Climate Change and Transparency and Accountability), 3 eights (Labor Rights, Taxes, and Gender Equality), 1 nine (Corruption), and 3 tens (Human Rights, Nature, and Weapons). This brings a.s.r.’s average score to 8.3. As in previous assessments, a.s.r. shows (one of) the highest scores among the 16 insurers surveyed. Achmea also scores an 8.3 in this publication, placing a.s.r. and Achmea in a shared first place.
Compared to the policy assessment in 2022, most insurance groups achieve better scores in the current policy assessment. The average scores of the 15 insurers that were also assessed in 2022 have increased from 5.0 to 6.0, measured across the ten themes evaluated in this update.
In this study, only policy documents published by the insurance groups before June 1, 2024, were assessed. New policies formulated and/or published after this date were not included in this assessment.
