a.s.r., the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) and Impact House by Grant Thornton present the whitepaper 'Towards financial education: what works!' to Joost Smits, Chair of the steering committee of Money Wise. The publication brings together insights from research and practice on what works well in financial education for young people. With this, the involved parties provide insight into which elements and preconditions contribute to effective financial education. a.s.r.’s involvement aligns with the ambition of a.s.r.’s Doenkracht programme to contribute to a financially aware, resilient and self-reliant Netherlands.

a.s.r. and Koninklijke Wandelbond Nederland (KWbN) are extending their existing partnership. In addition to the Avond4daagse, for which a.s.r. has been the official main sponsor since 2025, a.s.r. will also sponsor the Peuter4daagse ( (the toddler version of the Avond4daagse)) for the next four years. The aim is to encourage more children to take up walking and, in doing so, develop an active and healthy lifestyle.

Women and men receive equal pay for equal work at a.s.r. This is confirmed by the annual Gender Pay Gap analysis that a.s.r. has conducted since 2021. For the fifth consecutive year, the Gender Pay Gap at a.s.r. is 0%.

The choice among customers to repair damage to their home and contents, rather than opt for full replacement, continues to grow. Since a.s.r. launched its sustainable repair damage approach in 2023. this is the first time a majority has chosen this option: in 2025, repair was selected in 55% of covered home and contents claims. This development aligns with a.s.r.’s efforts to further promote sustainable damage repair and reflects the commitment made by signing the Manifest Duurzaam Schadeherstel (“Sustainable Damage Repair Manifesto”) in 2023. Through this commitment, a.s.r. has pledged to help ensure that sustainable damage repair becomes standard practice in claims handling by 2027.

In 2025, a.s.r. mortgage customers with a Verduurzamingshypotheek spent an average of € 10,412 on energy‑saving measures. This resulted in an improvement of 1.8 steps on average in their energy label. 

a.s.r. introduces the Verhuishypotheek (porting mortgage) for customers of a.s.r. and Aegon who make use of the moving scheme. During a relocation period, customers often face double monthly payments. When a customer uses the moving scheme, the existing loan is now automatically converted into an interest‑only Verhuishypotheek with a fixed interest rate.

ASR Nederland N.V. (a.s.r.) is ending its cooperation with Fides Letselschade, Fides Legal and Trias Legal. a.s.r. has determined that it cannot trust these offices to assist personal injury victims with the necessary expertise and integrity.

After twelve years with the organisation, Akkie Lansberg, director income, will leave a.s.r. to continue her career outside the company.

As of 1 May 2026, Jonathan Koopmans will take up the role of director of Digital & IT at a.s.r. He succeeds Kees Tuijnman, who has held this position since 2017 and will leave a.s.r. on 1 May.

From 2026, a.s.r. will become a strategic partner of the Groene GGZ (Green Mental Healthcare) initiative, which emphasises the importance of nature in mental healthcare. By joining this initiative, a.s.r. underlines the relevance of nature-inclusive care. As a strategic partner, a.s.r. will collaborate with various mental healthcare providers to implement nature-inclusive care into practice.

As of 1 December 2025, a.s.r. has appointed Diederik Schouten as deputy director and head of operations Pensions. In this new role, he will be responsible for the entire operational domain within the a.s.r. pensions business unit . Diederik Schouten will report to director of Pensions Folkert Pama, and will be part of the management team.

Young people do value funeral insurance, similar to older generations, but they rarely talk about it. This is evident from a representative study by a.s.r. among 1,250 Dutch people aged 18 to 80. 6 in 10 Dutch people consider funeral insurance a relevant product, with the prevention of unexpected costs for surviving relatives cited as the main reason. Savings are most frequently mentioned as an alternative by those who choose not to take out funeral insurance.

a.s.r. has once again achieved Step 1 on the Social Enterprise Performance Ladder (PSO), a national certification that promotes socially responsible entrepreneurship. This means that for both 2025 and 2026, a.s.r. remains the only insurer in the Netherlands to hold this highest distinction. On average, a.s.r. employs more people with a distance to the labour market than organisations of similar size.

In October, the final part of Aegon’s mortgage portfolio was successfully migrated to Stater’s mortgage platform. Since January 2025, new mortgage applications from Aegon customers were already being processed via Stater, and by June, two-thirds of the portfolio had been transferred. This marks the completion of a large-scale migration and represents an important milestone in the integration of a.s.r. and Aegon Nederland. Stater has long been the trusted platform for mortgage processing at a.s.r.

a.s.r. and the trade unions CNV, FNV Finance and De Unie agree on a new Collective Labour Agreement (CLA). The CLA will be in effect for a period of 21 months, starting retroactively from 1 April 2025 and running until 1 January 2027.

Two-thirds of Dutch citizens are not in favour of lowering the own risk mandatory excess. They expect such a move would lead to higher premiums and longer waiting times. This is the outcome of a new representative survey conducted by a.s.r. among 1,250 respondents. The research also shows that young people in particular place high value on access to mental healthcare.
