3rd place for a.s.r. asset management in VBDO sustainability ranking
a.s.r. asset management ranked third in the benchmark presented every two years by the Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO). In this ranking, the sustainable investment policies of 30 Dutch insurers are compared. In the previous edition, a.s.r. was still in the lead.
This year, Athora has been named the most sustainable insurer with a total score of 4.5 out of 5, taking over the number 1 position from a.s.r. Nationale Nederlanden came in 2nd with a score of 4. a.s.r. completes the top 3 with a score of 3.9. The 30 insurers included in this survey together have invested more than €450 billion.
The benchmark shows that all insurers have now formulated a sustainable investment policy and that their ambitions have increased across the board in recent years. As in the previous benchmarks, the larger insurers continue to score well and there is also a clear improvement among the medium-sized and smaller insurers.
VBDO also observes in its report that although the insurers have taken steps in the area of climate policy in recent years, 2 out of 5 do not yet have a concrete investment policy in place on this subject. The report also shows that almost half (48%) of the insurers do not yet make use of active shareholdership with a focus on climate; an important tool for changing the policy and activities of the companies in which they invest.

On this day, employees will step away from their usual tasks and wholeheartedly engage in volunteer work across 6 of a.s.r.’s 7 business cities. a.s.r.’s social organisation, Doenkracht, collaborates with various organisations in and around these cities that can benefit from external help. This initiative marks the first time a.s.r. is organising such an event, drawing inspiration from Aegon Nederland, which previously introduced Vrijwilligerswerk Vrijdag (“Volunteering on Friday”). The commitment to community activities aligns with a.s.r.’s mission to empower individuals in the Netherlands to make informed financial decisions, fostering greater financial awareness, savvy, and resilience.

15 Apr 2024The a.s.r. Vitality health programme is available to all pension, healthcare and income protection customers of a.s.r. and Loyalisa.s.r. Vitality will be available from 1 January 2025 to all customers with healthcare, income protection or pension insurance of a.s.r. or Loyalis, without paying a separate contribution for this. In this way, a.s.r. hopes to lower the threshold to participate in the programme.
