Women and men receive equal pay for equal work at a.s.r. This is confirmed by the annual Gender Pay Gap analysis that a.s.r. has conducted since 2021. For the fifth consecutive year, the Gender Pay Gap at a.s.r. is 0%.
Gender equality is an important theme within a.s.r.'s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Policy. Equal pay is a key condition for achieving gender equality. To monitor this, a.s.r. conducts a Gender Pay Gap analysis every year. The 2025 analysis shows that men and women at a.s.r. receive equal pay for equal work. The Gender Pay Gap is 0%.
For this calculation, a.s.r. uses the average full-time gross annual salary of all men and women and adjusts – to ensure a fair comparison – for type of work, age and years of service. As is the case at other companies in the Netherlands, women at a.s.r. historically tend to hold different types of roles. For instance, women are more often represented in customer service and support positions, while men more frequently work in underwriting and management roles. In addition, women at a.s.r. are, overall, younger than their male colleagues; they have therefore had less time to progress in their careers.
Jolanda Sappelli, CHRO: ‘We pay equally for equal work at a.s.r. But that does not yet mean we have achieved full gender equality. For that, we also need a more balanced distribution of women and men in management and specialist roles. We are working hard to offer both women and men equal opportunities to move into and progress within management positions. We do so by ensuring balanced representation in interview rounds, and by offering the option to carry out management roles at all levels in a four day working week. Through monthly dashboards, managers can monitor gender diversity developments within their teams, and we place a strong focus on talent development.’
With a corrected pay gap of 0% (2025), a.s.r. performs significantly better than the Dutch business sector, where the corrected pay gap according to the most recent CBS figures (2024) is 6.1%. The methodology a.s.r. uses for its Gender Pay Gap analysis already anticipates the upcoming European Pay Transparency Directive, which will be incorporated into Dutch legislation by 1 January 2027. This directive aims to ensure that men and women receive the same pay for the same work.
