a.s.r. signs commitment financial sector Climate agreement

a.s.r. has signed the commitment of the financial sector, which contains agreements to contribute to the implementation of the national Climate agreement. Such as financing the energy transition, measuring the carbon neutral impact of investments and determining reduction targets.

Around fifty banks, insurers, pension funds and asset managers and their umbrella organizations committed themselves to the climate goals of the cabinet on Wednesday 10 July. In the presence of the Minister of Finance, Wopke Hoekstra, they’ve signed the commitment with which they commit themselves to report on the climate impact of their financing and investments, starting 2020. In addition, they will have action plans ready by 2022 that will contribute to a reduction in carbon neutral emissions. There will be annual consultations on the progress of the implementation of the agreements.

The commitment must contribute to the implementation of the national Climate Agreement, which aims to reduce carbon neutral emissions by 49% in 2030 compared to 1990.
