a.s.r. maintains leading position in Fair Insurance Guide
In the update of the Fair Insurance Guide, which assesses the sustainable investment policy of Dutch insurers, a.s.r. comes out on top again. With a score of 89%, a.s.r. confirmed its leading position. a.s.r. received highest scores on 12 of the 14 themes, with the ultimate score, a 10, on 4 themes: Health, Human Rights, Nature and Weapons.
The biennial 2022 policy update of the Fair Insurance Guide has been made up again and the number of themes has been reduced to 14. Across the board, insurers score lower than 2 years ago, and smaller insurers generally do less well than the larger ones.
a.s.r. shows a different picture, with 2 sevens (Taxes and Animal Welfare), 2 eights (Climate Change and Transparency), 6 nines (Labour Rights, Corruption, Gender Equality, Manufacturing, Mining and Oil & Gas) and 4 tens (Health, Human Rights, Nature and weapons). This brings the average score to 89%. Just like the previous times, a.s.r. achieved the highest score of the (in this case) 16 insurers examined. The sustainable investment policy of a.s.r. is therefore rated the best in the Dutch insurance sector by the Fair Insurance Guide.

The Fair Insurance Guide is an initiative of Amnesty International, Milieudefensie, Oxfam Novib, PAX and World Animal Protection and has been examining the investment policy of insurers on a number of sustainability criteria since 2013. 25 Apr 2024a.s.r. joins Forum for Insurance Transition to Net-Zero (FIT)a.s.r. has joined the Forum for Insurance Transition to Net-Zero (FIT), a new initiative launched by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). A total of 19 insurers and reinsurers worldwide have joined this initiative. FIT builds upon the efforts of the Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA). It provides a broader platform for collaboration and innovation and a.s.r. is one of the three Dutch insurers actively participating. a.s.r. hereby reaffirms its commitment to a sustainable and climate-neutral insurance sector.

18 Apr 2024500 a.s.r. employees roll up their sleeves on first “Doenkracht Donderdag”Across the Netherlands, 500 a.s.r. employees will participate in activities on Thursday, April 18, during Doenkracht Donderdag (“Doenkracht Thursday”). On this day, employees will step away from their usual tasks and wholeheartedly engage in volunteer work across 6 of a.s.r.’s 7 business cities. a.s.r.’s social organisation, Doenkracht, collaborates with various organisations in and around these cities that can benefit from external help. This initiative marks the first time a.s.r. is organising such an event, drawing inspiration from Aegon Nederland, which previously introduced Vrijwilligerswerk Vrijdag (“Volunteering on Friday”). The commitment to community activities aligns with a.s.r.’s mission to empower individuals in the Netherlands to make informed financial decisions, fostering greater financial awareness, savvy, and resilience.
