The Green Recovery Statement is supported by a coalition of over 200 companies, including a.s.r., and is in line with the sustainability goals of the United Nations and the Paris Climate Agreement. The statement was published online today, June 19, and handed over to the cabinet.
Jos Baeten, CEO a.s.r.: 'COVID-19 has disrupted the world and exposed the vulnerabilities of our current economy and society. With the Green Recovery Statement we look to the future, to recovery. As a business community, we take responsibility for this and make choices to build a sustainable and inclusive Netherlands, a Netherlands with a sustainable economy and a society where everyone counts and feels the freedom to participate.'
MVO Nederland has published a press release (Dutch only).
Maria van der Heijden, director of MVO Nederland, presented the Green Recovery Statement to Sigrid Kaag, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, on 19 June 2020. She did this together with, among others, Jan Peter Balkenende, chairman of the Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition (DSGC). The Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition (DSGC) unites eight multinationals. We aim to drive sustainable growth by combining economic profitability with environmental and social progress — and in that way contribute to the SDGs.
