On average, a.s.r. employs more people with a distance to the labour market than at other organisations of the same size. a.s.r. also encourages suppliers and contractors to engage in social entrepreneurship. Through these efforts, a.s.r. retains Step 1 on the PSO, which a.s.r. has achieved as the only insurer in the Netherlands since January 2020.
The Performance Ladder More Social Entrepreneurship’s goal is to help more people with a distance to the labour market find work. In line with the role of a.s.r. as a sustainable employer, people with a distance to the labour market are deployed for a maximum of 2 years on assignments within a.s.r. via the Participation Desk, part of HR. This gives them time to gain work experience and develop employee skills. The aim is to then have them flow into a permanent position.
a.s.r. has retained Step 1 by hiring or keeping more people with a vulnerable labour market position at work in the past 2 years. Currently 49 colleagues from this target group are working at a.s.r., with the ambition to reach 70 by 2026. In addition, a.s.r. currently has a larger indirect contribution than 2 years ago, as a.s.r. has tightened up its purchasing policy: organisations a.s.r. cooperates with must be able to demonstrate their commitment to people with a vulnerable labour market position.
Jolanda Sappelli, HR director: ‘We are pleased that, given the difficult corona period, we have been able to provide an increased number of employees with a distance to the labour market an opportunity at a.s.r. The PSO quality mark emphasises what we stand for and what we do at a.s.r.: offer equal opportunities to all in the labour market.’
The Performance Ladder More Social Entrepreneurship (Prestatieladder Socialer Ondernemen) is a measuring instrument of TNO that objectively determines the extent to which an organisation is doing business in a more social way. But it is also a quality mark. The aim of the PSO is to help more people at a distance from the labour market find a permanent, high-quality job. PSO organisations do this by facilitating workplaces within their own organisation. In addition, PSO-certified organisations also encourage their suppliers and contractors to do business in a more social way. For more information about PSO, go to www.pso-nederland.nl.
