Resilient a.s.r. delivers strong result over first half of 2022 driven by strong performance in all segments
Jos Baeten, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO: 'Against a background marked by geopolitical tension and economic uncertainty we look back at a solid performance in first half year. The financial results are strong across the board and our capital position has remained notably robust in volatile markets in the first half of this year. Despite the impact of storm claims and an ongoing normalisation of claims following the termination of COVID-19 restrictions, our operating result showed only a small decline compared to last year’s record performance. This demonstrates that a.s.r. is resilient and offers stability.'
- Operating result amounted to € 513 million (HY 2021: € 532 million); despite underlying improvements of the business the operating result decreased by 3.5% due to the impact of the storms at the beginning of this year and an ongoing normalisation of claims in P&C following termination of COVID-19 restrictions.
- Operating return on equity is 13.7%, which is at the upper-end of the 12-14% target.
- Solvency II ratio (SF) as at 30 June 2022 stands at 214% (31 December 2021: 196%).
- Organic capital creation increased by € 56 million to € 428 million (HY 2021: € 372 million).
- Interim dividend increased to € 0.98 per share (HY 2021: € 0.82).

25 Apr 2024a.s.r. joins Forum for Insurance Transition to Net-Zero (FIT)a.s.r. has joined the Forum for Insurance Transition to Net-Zero (FIT), a new initiative launched by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). A total of 19 insurers and reinsurers worldwide have joined this initiative. FIT builds upon the efforts of the Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA). It provides a broader platform for collaboration and innovation and a.s.r. is one of the three Dutch insurers actively participating. a.s.r. hereby reaffirms its commitment to a sustainable and climate-neutral insurance sector.

18 Apr 2024500 a.s.r. employees roll up their sleeves on first “Doenkracht Donderdag”Across the Netherlands, 500 a.s.r. employees will participate in activities on Thursday, April 18, during Doenkracht Donderdag (“Doenkracht Thursday”). On this day, employees will step away from their usual tasks and wholeheartedly engage in volunteer work across 6 of a.s.r.’s 7 business cities. a.s.r.’s social organisation, Doenkracht, collaborates with various organisations in and around these cities that can benefit from external help. This initiative marks the first time a.s.r. is organising such an event, drawing inspiration from Aegon Nederland, which previously introduced Vrijwilligerswerk Vrijdag (“Volunteering on Friday”). The commitment to community activities aligns with a.s.r.’s mission to empower individuals in the Netherlands to make informed financial decisions, fostering greater financial awareness, savvy, and resilience.
