a.s.r. again ranks amongst the most sustainable companies in Europe and worldwide

It is the fourth time that a.s.r. has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World Index) and in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index (DJSI Europe Index), the indices that monitor companies for sustainability on a global and European level. With the inclusion in the DJSI World Index a.s.r. ranks amongst the 10% most sustainable insurers worldwide.

S&P Dow Jones Indices, the division of S&P Global that publishes the indices, assesses listed companies each year on their environmental (E), social (S) and economic (G) performance. The top 10% of best-performing companies in each sector are listed in the index. Based on the results achieved, a.s.r.’s sustainability policy ranks amongst the top in the European and global markets. In both the World index and the European index, a.s.r. rose two places: on the World index, this resulted in the eighth position. In the European index, a.s.r. ranked number five among the most sustainable companies. It is the fourth consecutive year that a.s.r. has been included in the World index and the third consecutive year that a.s.r. has also been included in the European index.

Jos Baeten, CEO at a.s.r.: ‘We are very pleased that a.s.r. is once again included in both the European- and World Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Two leading sustainability indices. In the coming years, we will continue our efforts to further improve our sustainability performance and create even more sustainable value for all our stakeholders. By combining the activities of Aegon Nederland with a.s.r., we expect to be able to make an even greater impact on sustainability'.

a.s.r. achieved a score of 79 points out of a maximum of 100. The score on the three different parameters is: environmental (72), social (75) and economic (85). This was announced by S&P Dow Jones Indices on Friday 8 December.
